Our Story

It all began over 20 years ago ...

when Shirley Royal began her career as a full-time video editor at Access Studios with John Queenan at the helm. During her time, she moved into Producing and Directing working on both Corporate and Broadcast productions.

After Access Studios moved their business to Canada, Shirley took the plunge and started Royal Works in the early 2000's, continuing producing and directing for clients such as Unilever, Illovo Sugar, Trellidor and more. In 2015, Shirley was approached to take on Project Managing a large television series, Snakes in the City, for National Geographic Wild with Earth Touch Productions. The 6-part Discovery Channel series was re-commissioned annually, and over the 7 years she was with Earth Touch, invaluable experience was gained in managing large teams and delivering many other wildlife episodes and their accompanying and complex deliverables to channels such as the Smithsonian Institute, National Geographic and more.

Since 2022, Shirley has focussed her attention back fully on Royal Works, and has become highly respected in the corporate and broadcast sectors as a detail-oriented, highly organised, creative team player and has had opportunities to take on roles of AD on set, Line Producing and project managing large scale projects with a particular bent to Post Production Delivery Excellence.
